Recommended NODE-ID Assignments:

   It is imperative that Node Names be reasonably informative regarding what
service, funtion, or location they provide. The name should in some way reflect
the FUNCTION of that node or station. So it is desired that nodenames and hostnames
have some degree of "intelligence" in their name.

   The following are the general consensus of the DRG Working Group committees:

JNOS (Home station)
===================
   o Home stations typically use the Callsign of the owneri in the hostname:
         wb8tkl.ampr.org
         ka8e.ampr.org

   o Additional hostnames may reflect a function, location, or device, of that
     particular owner:
         laptop.wb8tkl.ampr.org
         linux.n8lbv.ampr.org

JNOS HAMGATE
============
   o HamGate nodes are always designated by "Hamgate.(county)".

   o The FQDN of a Hamgate shall be "hamgate.(county).ampr.org"

   o The Hamgate will always use the FIRST address of its primary subnet:
         hamgate.washtenaw   44.102.1.1
         hamgate.alcona      44.102.238.1

   o NetROM enabled Hamgates should use "HG" followed by 3 or 4 letters to
     designate the primary county that they provide service to:
         HGWASH  = Hamgate Washtenaw
         HGLEE   = Hamgate Leelanau

NETROM
======
   o Netrom/X1J/Knet/BPQ nodes only allow for SIX character None Names

   o It is convienient to have similar service nodes use the SAME prefix in their
     node name so that these service all show up in the Nodes List grouped together.
     EOC's would all be grouped together, as HG Hamgate would all be grouped together.

   o Long ago in the heyday of Packet, most states including Michigan, adopted
     the policy to name NetROM nodes using the first two character positions to
     designate the STATE.  i.e.  MIYPSI

   o Node Names should reflect the LOCATION and/or the FUNCTION of the Node:
        EOC81   = EOC in county #81 (Washtenaw)
        EOCWAS  = EOC Washtenaw
        EOCMNR  = EOC Monroe
        HGWASH  = Hamgate Washtenaw
        HGMID   = Hamgate Midland
        RCWASH  = Red Cross Washtenaw
        WAYFIR = Wayne county Fire, central station
        WAYF23  = Wayne county Fire Station #23
        WAYPD = Wayne county Police Dispatch
        WASMOT = Washtenaw Mott Children's Hospital
        WASUMH = Washtenaw University of Michigan Hospital

WINLINK
=======
   o It is typical to identify a Winlink node by its Callsign with a -10 SSID.
